Coconut Oil

I’ve written about coconut oil before, like in my Beauty Basics 101 – Coconut Oil post, and I’m sure this won’t be the last time write about coconut oil. It has so many benefits and uses.

Today I thought I’d give you a few of my favorite uses for coconut oil:

Shaving

Lather it on your legs before shaving. I like to do it while I’m in the shower. It makes shaving easy and leaves your legs silky smooth.

Sooth a Sunburn

Dab a little coconut oily on your sunburn and it will sooth your burn. Plus, it will restore it’s moisture an help keep your skin soft.

Cracked Heels

Spring is on it’s way!! Keep your feet sandal ready by applying coconut oil to your cracked heels. I like to do this at night. I will slather on a good bit of coconut oil on my feet and put sock on over them. In the morning, my feet are soft and smooth.

Make Up Remover

Coconut oil is a great eye make up remover. It’ll remove almost all your eye make up in one swipe. You might need a couple more swipes to remove mascara. It’s also great as a lip balm, and some people use it as toothpaste (that will be a whole other post!).

Soak

Put a spoonful or two into a bath to soften skin. Soak for 10 – 15 minute and pat dry. Make sure you clean your tub well, after your soak, as it can get very slippery if oil is left in it.

Body Scrub

Mix some coconut oil with a bit of sugar for a skin softening scrub. Need I say more??

Scalp

Our scalp needs love too! Rub a little coconut oil into your scalp for moisture benefits. It will also get rid of any dandruff you may have.

Cuticle Softener

Rub a bit of coconut oil into your cuticles to soften them and stimulate nail growth.

Hair Care

Tame that frizzy hair! Can I get an AMEN? I’ll use a little bit of coconut oil in my hair, while still wet, before using any other product, to keep my curly hair frizz free. I’ll also use a tiny bit after I straighten my hair to tame any fly-aways.

Sexy Time

Last, but certainly not least, coconut oil makes and excellent, natural lubricant for those intimate moments with your significant other. It’s safe, and a little goes a long way. So go get your sexy on!
